West-Friesland is a region of 60.000 hectare in the Northern part of North-Holland surrounded by a 126 km dike. This dike has been constructed in the 11th<\/sup> and 12th<\/sup> century and has been one of the first waterconstruction projects in The Netherlands. A trip following this dike, by bike or car, is an unique experience.<\/p>\n

West-Friesland is famous for his extensive cycling possibilities and routes which can lead you safely through the area and even up to Amsterdam. When cycling through the surroundings one can enjoy the nature, authentic villages and West Frisian architecture which is unique for this region. Between the villages one can enjoy the peace, nature and space which is still present here.<\/p>\n

Villages as Twisk and Opperdoes are known nationwide by the traditional \u201cStolp\u201d Farmhouses and Twisk is therefore a protected village\/countryside only within 10 minutes by bike from our camping.<\/p>\n

Camping Veerhof is surrounded by steam, in front of the camping the old steam train from Medemblik to Hoorn is passing by a few times daily. On the other side of the camping one can see the fume pipes of the steam museum in Medemblik where one can visit the old steam pumping station.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1489069949003{margin-top: 10px !important;padding-top: 0px !important;}”][vc_column_text]\"\"As said before the historical triangle indicatest he three Ijsselmeer (formerly known as Zuiderzee) cities of Medemblik (6km), Enkhuizen (21km) and Hoorn (12km). These Hanze cities have a glorius past and have been playing a big role in the dutch history. Medemblik is the oldest city with the Castle Radboud which has been founded by count Floris V. Hoorn and Enkhuizen are famous for the V.O.C. (United East Indien Company) which was the world trading leader in the 17th<\/sup> century. Beautiful historical cities with multiple musea, authentic port facilities and good restaurants to relax and enjoy the food, all easily attainable by bike.[\/vc_column_text]Activities<\/span><\/a>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
